self directed

self direct

this image is the first of my photo joinery collages. this image is a series of photos that i have joined and blended together. its based on a location in Wales that I go to a lot. its set on Abergele beach car park near the arcades you can see in the back ground. the images are not of the greatest quality as they were taken quite a few years ago on a camera with as low as 8 mega pixels. some of the images of the sky are what i have taken this year and so are the seagulls  images hence the reason why there clearer photos. so looking at this photo you looking at a combination of present day location photos and photos taken about 6 years ago. the big swirly slide in the back ground is no longer there any more so retaking the photo to get them clearer is not possible but this makes it better and you can see history from looking at these images I have made as they no longer exist any more.

this image was another one ive created by blending loads of different photos together. I went back and retook images in different lighting conditions to show different textures and how the landscape changes in different weather conditions and seeing these layered together you can see how different the scenes look but we don't notice until layered together. for this i took photos on a cloudy day in winter and layered them with a sunny day in spring. you can see the difference slightly by the changing in seasons by the grass being greener and leaves starting to sprout on the trees.

this image location is actually to the right of the photo above if you were stood where the bin was facing right this is the view you get. its a power station that i live right near in Warrington. like the above photo i have layered photos from different seasons together on was in summer one was in Autumn. to make these images i have to go through a lot of photographs maybe a few hundred and layer tiny sections together so it does take a few days to construct these to how I like them.

this photo image is only 2 single photographs taken on campus at DMU, to the left is Newark Point where I lived last year. the center image was taken a year ago and the outer image was taken a few weeks ago. it was retaken on the exact same day and month exactly a year ago. the outer photo was taken at April 5th 2014 at 6.30pm and for the inner photo it was taken at April 5th 2013 at 6.30pm. not much has changed in these 2 photos, the only difference is that a year has passed from the first to the second image. Even the sun its self was in the same place at the exact time and same weather conditions was all the same as well.

in this image i came back at different times of the day and retook photos in similar positions. as you can see the shadows have moved as the sun rotates around the building, i also added a bit of manipulation by making the certain elements larger or appear more than once.

this is based in my back garden and i did these photos over the Easter holidays. i captured different close ups and zoomed out areas and blended them together also capturing different lighting conditions. such as taking photos as the fire is at its hottest point and when it is going out.

this is another one based in wales these photos were taken a few years back which i photo joined together but using a 360 view. if you look closely you will see the opposite view in the castle as i have blended in the houses in the castle where my dad and sister are stood nearest each other. we did come back during different times of the day which showed different lighting conditions in the image which complimented each other nicely. I also added some night time images in there if you look closely if you haven't already noticed you can see that the entrance to the castle and the window was photos that i took at night.

this is the night time scene that i retook at creating different zoom ins by layering different images and different view points together to create this rather strange stair way effect like its leading up the castle.

this was with out the added layers to see if i could get a good composition out of my night time photos.

these 2 images are photo manipulations of inside the castle of my dad posing but  I have layered all different poses he did in to one and played around with different compositions and lighting effects.

this image is of DMU library but in 2 different weather conditions one in sunny weather and one in foggy weather. you can see how this effect the camera during different weather on how the lighting and what detain the camera picks up. these are taken with same camera in the same spot using same settings.

this image is a mixture of some photos i took last year and some i have taken a few weeks ago. i started from the foggy dull day and blending into the sunny day of last year that you can see on the left. I like the composition on this one how its not perfect and you can just about piece together what your viewing.

Im really enjoying doing this kind of technique and i discovered my liking for it by accident by playing around with some photographs that i actually like them look of which was the seagull one. as i just randomly placed the seagulls over the older image to show the newer technology against the older. but this then lead on to me going through all my photos and taking new ones to take the kind of style to another level and layering many more layers over each other and blending them together.

this image I think works really well composition wise as I like how it looks believable yet it also looks unbelievable. I played with lighting conditions again and layered them together. its the same view point but i adjusted thing slightly by just crossing the road and taking photos but looking in the same direction so this one is just a 180 view.

this one is taken in the foggy weather and sunny weather and I used different view points to manipulate the environment. I don't really like this one as its my least favorite out of all the ones I have done as it seems to be the least interesting for some reason so maybe to make it more interesting i could add more layers and little thing in the environment that catch my eyes on different days.
