contextual research

Pedro Campos

image source taken from above link. Campos's work is oil on canvas that he paints him self and spends many hours doing.

"Campos uses traditional painters tools and methods with considerable confidence. From a young age, Campos worked in a variety of creative settings, decorating nightclubs and restaurants, and also working for ad agencies as an illustrator. He also studied art restoration in Madrid, working on furnishings, paintings and sculpture. It wasn't until age 30 that he finally took up oil painting and began to forge his career as a fine artist."

I like how he paints every day objects but makes them look crystal clear like its an actual painting and makes and every day scene look beautiful in the way hes painted it.
the composition that he has chose shows a variety of different tones and textures with the way he compositions different variety of the same brand item.

my take on his work was my Pepsi can painting. I only chose to paint one single Pepsi can on ts own as when there are more than one object like hes done it takes the focal point away from the actual item and you miss things that you first glimpse on. I like how hes used a background but yet again it become distracting from what he is trying to show which is his eye for fine detail and creating and near perfect product.

"Although his art relies on photography, Campos tries to go beyond the photographic to create a distinctive aesthetic that is his alone. Interestingly, he admires a wide range of contemporary artists not because of their attachments to any particular styles or ideas, but because of their striking individuality."

the smooth finish he produces makes the image look believable and makes the viewer desperately try to search for the smallest of mistakes to make it seem believable that this a painting and not just a photograph. this kind of photo realism art can be easily faked and seem real with the use of Photoshop even with the artists showing a video of them painting the image as i have found an artist that claims to have painted a portrait of Sir Morgan Freeman and shows a video of him painting it on an iPad it was later found out though by Photoshop experts and people who understand how to manipulate people with technology that it was in fact fake.

this link above goes to the website and explains how painting can be easily faked using simple techniques to fool people in to thinking its real as there watching it being done in front of them.

The Insane Morgan Freeman iPad Painting: An Investigation in Four Acts

"The only way this could be done, is if you start with a photo and then paint over it, blurring out details. And then replay the video backwards."

this how they do it by replaying a video backwards with them actually blurring the photograph out then half way through blurring out editing in another video of them actually painting some of the painting from the beginning up to a certain point were they actually cant paint it any more beyond there painting skills then add the blurring effect in that they previously made from the actual photograph and video editing the 2 separate videos together making it seem real

on the above image which is claimed to be a painting and the actual photograph played against each other in that moving image. basically its impossible for some one to actually get every thing picture perfect in a painting as because of this im painting was found to be a fake. like u can see the person has supposedly painted every detail perfect like the beard every piece of hair and molecule on the painting.
